Back Home

So I came back to the fires above where I live being engulfed in flames - damages many of the trails I like to hike, endangering lives, and homes, and resulting in the deaths of two fire fighters. The smoke Sunday morning was actually blocking out the sun.

My plan when I got back was to get back in the swing of exercise. But since I have been back - I have not gotten too much exercise. I blame this on the fires, making the air quality horrible. I did get in an 11 mile bike ride and hit some golf balls. But not exactly great training for the Disneyland 1/2 marathon.

But on the bright side, I made a concerted effort to work on my diet this week. After our trip, where we made a concerted effort to eat the local food (which was usually not healthy), I decided to make a clean break. So breakfast consisted of hard boiled eggs, berries, and a few almonds. Lunch was mainly just salad with some protein in them - whether chicken, shrimp or turkey. Dinners were fairly good as well. Friday's lunch choice was tough - pepperoni pizza or salad. Went with the salad, sadly. Also trying to get and stay hydrated for Sunday. 13.1 miles seems to be a long way.

Next posting will be about the 1/2 Marathon - should be interesting!
