Our day started in New York - where the hotel was without hot water or air conditioning for hours. My favorite was that they did not tell you. After letting the water run for a bit, I called down to the front desk. They said there was an emergency fix to the gas system and it would be 20 minutes. 20 minutes turned into more than an hour. Kind of a nightmare.
But from there we were off to the Jersey Shore to a little diner called Mustache Bill's. Yes, we drove to the Jersey Shore for diner food. Hey, we were on a road trip. And we were not disappointed.
Then we headed to see Lucy the Elephant, which is the oldest road side attraction. Again random - but we were on a road trip. The funniest part about seeing Lucy was the requirement to go over a bridge that was $1.50 each way. Seriously.
Finally, we headed through the pouring rain to Delaware to bag our last state capitol building at Dover. Not surprisingly, it was raining again.
Then it was back to Virginia via D.C. to the end of our trip.
So when it was all said and done, we had gone to 12 states, visited 8 state capitals, saw innumerable great sites, took 1000s of pictures, ate way too much food, and drove more than 2300 miles.
Until the next adventure . . .
