Getting Lost - November 15, 2009 edition

Orienteering this month was down in Orange County.
I am not sure if we are getting better in terms of avoiding adventure or whether we are just getting used to our adventures, so that some of the things we used to think were a bit adventurous are now the norm??

This time, our navigation was pretty good - oh except for the time Jane and I pointed in complete opposite directions, each claiming we were pointing North. But that was only a momentary setback. We covered about 4 miles, were off-trail quite a it. And when you cannot find a trail, sometimes there is only one way to get down a hill. While we did not end up in a storm drain, we did play in some ravines,

had to negotiate some barbed wire
And in this case climb over this bridge.
Yes, we did think about the safety of crossing this bridge. Then said - "hey why not, the cross-beams look sturdy." Besides, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, right? No one was killed or injured in the crossing - so a successful day. I think we took second in our category - and had a good day enjoying a beautiful day.
