I got there a few minutes early and was waiting in the wind and cold --- but was extremely entertained by the people watching there. Here are some snippets of conversations and no I did not make any of it up:
"My birthday is coming up, but I don't want my friends to see me. This is the fatest I have been since my freshman year at 'SC. What will they think?"
A woman was riding by with a guy. She is irritable and tired of riding: --- Out of the blue she says "What the F*&@." He says, what do you want? She replies, "Use your english." (This is curious because he clearly speaks english.) "Well then where do you want to stop." She replies, "Back there like 3 miles."
"I spend $40 dollars all the time in her store and she says she is going to defriend me because she does not know me? As if."
And finally, from a family that was clearly in from out of town - she was explaining her trip to Marina Del Rey to someone on the phone -- "This is so L.A. - everyone has big tits."
But eventually we hoped on our bikes as the cloud slowly started to fight through the clouds. We got down to the Redondo Beach pier. It was cold but still crowded there. Lots of people just milling about and fishing.
