I have missed the last 3 Mt. Wilson Trail Racing Saturday morning trainings. The first week I was in Big Bear running the Snowshoe the bear. The second week I was running the Chinatown 10k, and last week I was up in Sacramento volunteering with a moot court program for high school kids. So it was time to start catching-up on my missed work outs.
The first one I missed was 2 x 2 miles with some rest in between. As I was not sure of the rest time, did not feel like driving to Sierra Madre, and had some new shoes to break in, I decided on the Rose Bowl. So I jogged down to the Rose Bowl, which is less than 1/2 mile from my house and is about 3 miles around. Once down in the arroyo, I walked a mile, then ran two (20:38), then walked another mile as my "rest", then ran two more (20:25) and then jogged back up the hill to my house. Not the fastest times, but I felt pretty good overall after not having been running for a week, coming up the hill was much easier than I remember, and I got about 7 miles on my new kicks.
