On the Road Again

So, it has been another week of travel.
Two semi-interesting things happened during my travels:
Number One - Journey: I was on a plane with Journey. You know the band from the 80's - "Don't Stop Believing." Well, the band has kind of changed a bit. Joe Perry is obviously no longer the lead singer. The band members had the requisite tatoos, the perfectly combed, puffy hair hair, and ripped jeans. Yet, they had gotten really old. I was quite amused by one of the guitarists trying to pick up on the flight attendant. The other difference in the band is that they play much smaller venues and were playing with some other 80's bands - Cheap Trick and Heart. (Nope, never made it to the concert.)
Number Two - Cruis'in: When I got to Tampa, Florida - I ran into a woman and her two small boys. They apparently were trying to make their cruise and were cutting it pretty close. Her one small boy was crying, I think he was just tired. The other was just trying to keep up. As I knew the airport and where to find a cab, I tried to help her out. When she left the airport she had 22 minutes to make it to the ship, which would be fairly close. I have no idea whether or not she made, but I certainly hope she did.
When I got to the hotel, it was packed. But not with business people. It seemed like some younger people dressed in casual clothes. After a few minutes of conversation with one of them, I learned that the Florida bar was that week and a number of people taking the test were staying at the hotel. I could not help but remember my bar-taking days - although sadly it has been many years now. Unlike the California bar, which is 3 full days (2 days of essays, 1 day of multiple choice), the Florida bar is only 2 days (1/2 day essay and 1 1/2 days multiple choice). So after my long day of travel and not really wanting to be there, I told them that I would rather go take their test than have my week. While I think they thought I was crazy, it was a true sentiment at the time.
As for my days themselves, it was another week where my days were long and tiring. Essentially I got up at 5:30 worked, got dressed, went to a deposition, came back, tried to squeeze a little exercise in, dinner, more work, and finally falling back into bed around midnight or 1:00 a.m. I am not complaining, that is life sometimes. It is just made for long days and I was dissappointed that I did not get more exercise in.
Although I was supposed to be done for the week and heading back home Thursday night, due to scheduling issues, I was stuck on the east coast until Saturday morning. The delay made me quite unhappy. But on Friday night in honor of the end of a long week, we went out for a few hours of beers, bar food and laughs. A bit after midnight, many beers and some Petrone later, I decided to call it quits so I could get up at 5 a.m. and catch my 7:00 a.m. flight. On the walk back to the hotel, we saw this frog on the wall.
At that moment, the frog's expression and his clinging to the glass for life, seemed to accurately memorialize how we felt. (We also thought it was cool that we would find a frog just hanging out on the side of a building at midnight.)
I am happy to be home again, although my stay is short lived. I am back on the road again and back to the east coast on Tuesday. Only this week, I am much more determined to get my exercise in more regularly! I know I said that last time, but this time I really mean it.
