I Like To Ride My Bicycle

So on Sunday a group of us took off on our bikes from Encanto Park in Duarte to Seal Beach - about 35 miles or so.
Here's the group in Seal Beach (after some grub and knowing the hard part was done, which is why everyone is so happy):
The ride was pretty uneventful. No major catastrophes, although I think people had some numb rear-ends by the time we got down to the beach. The weather was perfect, not too hot and not too breezy. And the company was a lot of fun.
As we rode, it was interesting to see the different neighborhoods, as well as different types of bikes and people riding. For example, we passed a guy with a propane tank on the back of his bike. Another guy had a recumbent bike with hand pedals. It was also fun to see how other people were spending their days as we passed people playing in parks, playing golf, playing in the river, riding horses, and playing soccer and baseball. The ultimate motivation, of course, was getting to Seal Beach so we could eat! And eat we did at the River's End cafe, where we also enjoyed the hazy view of the beach.
After some rest, some food (nope no "zoning" going on), and some laughs, we dodged some cars to catch the bike path and headed up to Long Beach. From there, we caught the metro train back up to Pasadena and then rode our bikes the last little bit to get the cars. All told, it was about 48 miles. While I think we were all wiped out, it was a great way to spend a day and was a good reminder to me to be grateful for the opportunities, people and gifts God sends my way.
BTW - thanks to JB and DB for organizing!
