Sunshine and Rain (Sunday, March 22nd )

So Sunday I awoke to the sound of rain pouring down. I felt bad for the people running the Pasadena marathon because I knew they were out there getting soaked before the race even started.

Jane and I contemplated running a triathlon Sunday morning, but Saturday night talked through all the issues and decided against it. Rather, we decided that we would go support our friends running the marathon. So the plan was to meet at the Allen train station at 8 a.m. When I got out of the shower, the rain had actually subsided for a while. The Gold Line station is about a mile from my house. So my thought was to leave at 7:30, giving me ample time to stroll to the train station before the 7:52 train. Turns out I left at 7:40, but still no rain. So I started jogging towards the station - cursing at myself for not getting out of the door sooner. I was about 3/4ths of the way there, when the skies opened up again and it started pouring. I continued running, got to the train station at about 7:49 / 7:50 ish - but I was completely drenched other than where my rain coat was covering. By the time I met Jane and Dave at the Allen station, it had stopped raining again. So we headed toward the marathon route - stopping for a wonderful and warm cup of Starbucks along the way. Jane and I decided to study up on this rain thing: From there we waited and cheered on the finishers:

Jane promised Joanne some post-race refreshments. But we then hit another down pour -
sending us back to Starbucks until we went back to the finish line to wait for the marathon finishers. We finished the day with a nice walk, BBQ and a great sunset!
Great job everyone! Someday for me - just not that Sunday!
